A little about Isabelle’s apprenticeship…
Apprenticeship Title
Level 3 HR Support
Job title and employer
HR Apprentice at AEGIS London
What are 3 skills you’ve learned so far?
Communication - I feel I can freely use my voice, express concerns and speak up when I am finding a tasks difficult.
Time management - I am able to prioritise tasks and feel in control of my work load.
Adaptability - I have been able to adapt to a new environment with a new structure, team, and area than what I was used to
What are 3 interests outside of work?
I love to cook/bake. It makes me feel calm and I love it when people enjoy my food! I am now the designated birthday cake maker for my family.
After saving enough, I would love to travel. I want to go to all the big cities and explore their cultures.
My friends and I love a relaxed movie night with a takeaway. As much as I hate scary movies, they are always our go to. Put on a romance film and I will watch it again and again.

What inspired you to choose an apprenticeship as your next step?
I always knew University wasn’t for me, I applied but had no interest in going! I have never been one for studying or opening a textbook. I wanted the hands on experience that an apprenticeship provides. I chose the apprentice route as this is what I saw for myself before sitting exams. When Visionpath came into my Sixth Form and spoke about the insurance industry and how they help find you a role, I immediately applied. They enabled amazing opportunities, assessment centres, networking, and most importantly, helping people secure a role.
Is there anything in the job or industry you're especially keen to learn more about?
I am excited to learn more about the insurance industry. Before Visionpath came into my Sixth Form, I had no interest in insurance. After this however, I realised there is much more than your standard car and travel insurance. I am eager to learn more about the syndicate, how the market operates, and how my role fits into this.
What’s something you’re proud of so far?
I am proud of myself for attending the Visionpath assessment centre for the Talent Hub. I was extremely nervous and lacked confidence in myself, this was my first assessment centre and I didn't know what to expect. I am proud as this assessment centre enabled me to secure my current role. It improved my confidence going into my interview and meeting new people.
Did you face any challenges during your assessment or onboarding process?
In all honesty, my onboarding process was such a simple process. Shortly after my assessment centre, I had an interview with Aegis and the next day I was offered the role! The communication from Visionpath was so reassuring and I am grateful for the process. Before Visionpath I was applying for roles directly and not hearing back for a long period of time, or at all.
What support have you received throughout your journey so far, and what’s made a difference?
My team has provided such incredible support. During my first week they spent time taking me through what their role is and what I can expect to be involved in. We have regular communication and they love to get me involved. I have weekly catch-ups with my manager, to discuss how I am feeling, my workload, and if there is any support she can give me. My buddy is also very supportive, she reassures me when I am doing well and helps with things I struggle with.
"My amazing friends and family have also been an incredible support. They show how proud they are of me every day and I couldn’t ask for more!"
What moment made you realise you’d made the right decision choosing an apprenticeship?
I knew I made the right choice before I even started my apprenticeship. The lead up to my first day was exciting and nerve wracking. I felt ready to make the jump into the professional world. As much as I massively miss my friends at University, and sometimes wish I could experience the social aspect, I have made great friends and connections which has allowed me to enjoy the apprenticeship more and reinforced the fact an apprenticeship was the right choice.
