What inspired you to choose an apprenticeship as your next step?
What inspired me to choose an apprenticeship was seeing how much I could learn from being in a real corporate environment. I’ve always been someone who learns best through experience, and the idea of earning while developing practical skills really appealed to me. Coming from a background where I’ve had to work hard to create my own opportunities, I wanted a route that would let me build a career early on and make a real impact.
"Visionpath workshops and conversations with mentors showed me that apprenticeships can open doors just as much as university, and that with the right drive, you can progress just as far, if not further."
Is there anything in the job or industry you're especially keen to learn more about?
I’m especially keen to learn more about how to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team in a professional environment. During Visionpath sessions, the group exercises showed me how much stronger ideas become when people with different skills work together. In my own experiences so far, I’ve seen how teamwork can make a big difference, but I’m eager to develop these skills further in a real corporate setting. In finance, teamwork is crucial, whether it’s analysing data, managing client relationships, or making big decisions under pressure. I’m looking forward to learning how professional teams communicate, stay organised, and use each other’s strengths to solve complex problems and deliver real results
What’s something you’re proud of so far?
Something I’m really proud of is having the confidence to put myself forward for opportunities like this. A year ago, I probably wouldn’t have imagined applying for apprenticeships or speaking confidently about my goals. Visionpath definitely played a part in that. The sessions helped me believe in my potential and see that there is no limit of what I can achieve.
"Getting through the application process and seeing how much I’ve grown in confidence has been a big step for me, and it’s made me even more motivated to keep pushing myself."
Did you face any challenges during your assessment or onboarding process?
One challenge I faced during the assessment process was dealing with nerves in interviews and speaking confidently in front of others. At first, I found it difficult to express my thoughts clearly, especially when I felt under pressure. The support from Visionpath really helped as their sessions and advice on interview preparation gave me the tools to stay calm and structure my answers better. Over time, I’ve become more confident speaking up and presenting myself.
What support have you received throughout your journey so far, and what’s made a difference?
The support I’ve received from my Ofcom mentor, Kavi, has made a huge difference in my journey so far. He’s been really encouraging and always takes the time to share advice on how to approach challenges and stay confident in professional settings. Having someone experienced to guide me and check in has helped me feel more prepared and reassured, especially when I was new to the process.
What moment made you realise you’d made the right decision choosing an apprenticeship?
The moment I realised I’d made the right decision choosing an apprenticeship was when I looked back at how far I’d come from feeling nervous and unsure to now feeling confident and capable. It wasn’t easy at first. I struggled with interviews and speaking up, but every small step forward felt like a personal victory. Knowing that I’m gaining real experience, learning on the job, and proving to myself that I can succeed without following the traditional path gave me a deep sense of pride and hope.
"It made me believe that I’m truly on the right journey to build the future I want."
