What inspired you to choose an apprenticeship as your next step?
I always worked part-time during sixth form, and enjoyed working more than being in typical education. When Visionpath presented this opportunity at MARS to learn on the job in a role I am passionate for, I knew an apprenticeship was best for my long term development.
What kinds of things do you get up to in your role? Any tasks you especially enjoy?
I create and maintain tools that make data easy to understand for stakeholders, like dashboards. I also work with teams to run ad hoc analyses when specific business questions come up. My job is to turn data into clear, actionable insights by spotting trends and presenting them in a way that makes sense. On top of that, I build advanced tools to help with forecasting and support strategic decisions.
What’s been the standout highlight of your apprenticeship so far?
Creating a forecasting tool that allowed a review of our product portfolio with different customer accounts, increasing the presence of our products in store, and boosting business revenue through increased volume order.
Have you come up against any challenges during your apprenticeship, and how did you navigate them?
Linking work situations to requirements from my apprenticeship provider for different projects and submissions.
"I navigated my way through this with constant communication with my manager to help my work requirements be more flexible."
What’s helped you feel supported during your apprenticeship?
My manager has been a huge support professionally, but having other apprentices around me is also a massive help as we can support and learn from each other.
What moment made you realise you’d made the right decision choosing an apprenticeship?
Finally understanding my role and all the tasks within it, and being able to conduct projects without assistance. When I started providing outputs from this and providing business value I realised I had made the correct decision.
